History of the Micro Lab Engineering Club Leave a comment

Micro Lab Engineering Club is a student organization dedicated to developing talent in the industrial environment by building a community of engineers in Embedded Systems. Over the past 12 years, Micro Lab has successfully organized activities such as workshops, hackathons, bootcamps, academic programs, research and development projects and similar, which have involved over 300 emerging talents per year in cutting-edge engineering processes and technologies.

Brief history

More than 12 years ago, a group of students passionate about engineering, electronics and technology, coordinated by professor Andrei Bragarenco, founded the Micro Lab Engineering Club.

The group of students participated in a series of student competitions, starting with 2011 – the competition „ElectroMobility”, organized by the company Continental, Iași, as well as other similar competitions in the Republic of Moldova and Romania, where they managed to develop their engineering skills. Then the activity of this group expanded and became known as Micro Lab, being recognized and supported by the Technical University of Moldova and partnerships with various companies.

The founder of the club

Andrei Bragarenco, passionate about engineering since childhood, is the founder of the Micro Lab Engineering club: "In the 1990s, I raised enough funds to procure the necessary replacement parts, disassembled the vehicle, and repaired the engine, without any prior technical knowledge in the field.”

After graduating from the 9th grade, he wanted to continue his studies at the Microelectronics College in Balti, but this was impossible, as the distance to the college was too long. Later, he studied at the university, which resulted in success but also in a backlog in physics and mathematics, which led to repeating the year of study. Despite these obstacles and impediments, the desire to become an engineer was not quenched, so he managed to continue his path to a successful career.

Later participating in the Internship program "Circuit design with hardware” in Bucharest, where he discovered another level of development and began his activity in the field of integrated circuit verification. Then, he returned to Chisinau and decided to develop this field to be at a similar level. In 2004, some of the university laboratories were accepted, thus he moved to a new stage in microelectronics and as a result he managed to gather a team passionate about engineering, this being the basis for the creation of the club.

"The idea of opening this Engineering Club arose from the creation of a community of engineers in the electronics-related field, who would help each other in their personal development. Those with less experience would be able to find help from experienced members who have a professional career either locally or abroad. Starting from 2007-2015, and still today, the local electronic components market is poorly developed, which creates difficulties, but we manage to face the challenges, reusing old equipment and discovering various distribution channels for components from abroad."

If we look back at the future: What will the Club be like in 5 years? "In our own headquarters, with continuous training courses and a research and development center that works for local and international clients."

The Micro Lab Engineering Club is based on collaboration between its members to share knowledge and work on projects that benefit the community. Our goal is to provide a friendly platform to share knowledge, learn, and collaborate towards achieving common goals.
